Becoming an Artist
"The first physical artwork I produced was in 2011. As an unemployed nineteen year old with insomnia, living alone
above a panel beaters workshop, I found myself walking the surrounding industrial area at night rummaging through what businesses considered garbage. From what others had labelled waste I assembled a seven-foot statue of death which loomed within my doorway to greet those who entered.
With most of my professional career focused on developing my analytical skills, I held little time for physical art as my creative talents were generally channelled into digital and technological design.
When I took up painting in 2020, I was again looking for ways of turning displaced and discarded things into unique works that made people smile.
Over the past five years, I have developed my own techniques and chemical blends through trial and error, rather than external influence, allowing for a natural evolution in my practice.
Navigating my bumpy path of creative causality, I remain committed to developing unique expressions of art that share a singular mission: to explore, express, and inspire.
